Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Los Angeles Clippers in the Staples Center, LA tonight in what is a battle between the two most exciting teams in the league. This pairing could well be the match up for the Western Conference Finals.
OKC lead the Clippers by half a game atop the Western Conference, OKC 32-9, Clippers 32-10.
As with any regular season game the game itself is not all that important in terms of the overall picture of being Conference or League champions, but it is a statement game and one that can impact a team as the season progresses. If the Thunder go into LA and win I believe this makes a bigger statement and impact than if the Clippers beat the Thunder at home. A Clipper win would further convince themselves that they are capable of winning against the big teams but would not dent the Thunder’s believe all that much.
Strangely for teams who have been dominant all season both come into this game on a loss, Thunder losing in overtime at Denver and the Clippers losing at Golden State. Both will be keen to end their losing streak of one.
The game also has MVP candidates against each other with Kevin Durant of the Thunder and the Clippers Chris Paul going head to head. Both have been instrumental in their team’s success this season.
This game is a must see for any NBA follower. I am taking the Thunder to win in a high energy, high scoring game.
