Matthew Lowton hit a wonder goal for Aston Villa against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium with less than 5 minutes of normal time remaining which put Villa into the lead in their relegation clash with the home side. Christian Benteke then added a third so seal the points as Stoke attacked but it is this wonder strike which sent Villa to victory. Villa re now 3 points above the relegation zone but Sunderland and Wigan have one and two games in hand respectively. This loss for Stoke pulls them deeper into the relegation race, something that would have been thought of as impossible at the half way mark as Stoke had the best defence in the league at that stage and sat comfortably in the top half.
If this is the goal that sends Villa on their way to survival it will add even more to this fantastic strike.
