National Football League Division 3 & 4 Final Preview

Division 3

Monaghan v Meath

Meath v Monaghan

Monaghan annihilated Meath when the two sides met in Week 1 of the league.

Both of these sides make the instant return to division 2 after being relegated last year.  Both will be happy with promotion but also keen to win the title on offer.

These two sides met in Week 1 of the league when Monaghan won on a scoreline of 1-18 to 2-3 in a very one sided clash.  Monaghan have been consistent throughout the league with some big wins.  Meath were starting at a relegation fight for a period in the league.  Their turning point came when in the first half of a home game against Sligo in Week 5 they trailed Sligo by a big margin but turned it around to win by two points on a 1-17 to 2-12 scoreline.  A loss there and promotion would have been gone and their remaining games would have been crucial in ensuring survival.  They continued winning to close out the league, finishing with an impressive 4 game win streak.

Both teams finished with the same record despite contrasting starts.

This game will be a lot closer than the opening round victory for Monaghan.  Monaghan will be looking for a repeat victory while Meath will be looking to extend their winning run to 5.

Verdict: Meath
