NHL playoffs set in the West

After a shortened season 48 games we are now at the time that matters, playoff time.

Fifteen teams have been whittled down to eight and the match ups are set.

Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago Blackhawks will hope to continue their form into the playoffs.

President Trophy winners and number 1 seed Chicago Blackhawks will take on the Minnesota Wild who sealed their spot in the playoffs with a win over the Colorado Avalanche tonight.  Chicago won the season series 2-1.

Number 2 seed Anaheim Ducks will take on the Detroit Red Wings who secured their place in the playoffs with a win against the Dallas Stars for the franchise’s 22nd consecutive playoff appearance.  Detroit won the season series 2-1.

Number 3 seed Vancouver Canucks will take on the San Jose Sharks.  The Sharks missed the chance to finish higher in the conference when losing to the LA Kings tonight.  San Jose won the season series 3-0.

Number 4 seed St. Louis Blue will take on Stanley Cup champions Los Angeles Kings who earned the 5th seed by beating the San Jose Sharks.  Los Angeles won the season series 3-0.

Dates and times for games have yet to be decided.
